Sofidel had its grand opening today at its 280-acre plant in Circleville. The opening of this paper plant has brought a lot of buzz and excitement to this town.
Circleville now has a reason to celebrate. The Sofidel tissue company which is based in Italy had its grand opening Wednesday afternoon. The company makes things like napkins, toilet paper, and paper towels.
This facility itself is one mile long.
The company said its poised to create nearly than 700 jobs and payout around $25 million in payroll to its employees.
That has the people of Circleville very optimistic, but that hasn’t always been the case.
“RCA shutdown, GE up here in downtown Circleville shutdown. I mean people were getting on welfare.”>
Scott Sweeney said he has lived in Circleville for 55 years. He said this is very exciting for him to see so much progress in the town he loves.
“I disabled I can’t work anymore. My kids can so it’ll help us,” said Sweeney. “This right here I think it will turn this place around where it needs to be.”
Sofidel officials said this may not be the end of the growth of this company in Circleville.
