Man sentenced for touching minor in Zoombezi Bay pool

POWELL, Ohio (WCMH) – A 34-year-old man will spend five years on probation after being convicted of inappropriately touching a young girl in a pool at Zoombezi Bay.

According to Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien, Philip A. Lohbauer entered an Alford plea to one count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth degree felony.

According to O’Brien, Lohbauer positioned himself directly and closely behind girls in the wave pool.

“Surveillance video showed the wave pushing the girls into the man, who was identified as Philip Lohbauer,” said O’Brien.

When entering an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit to a criminal act, but admits the evidence against them would likely result in a finding of guilt.

In addition to five years of probation, he was given a six-month suspended jail sentence. He is required to attend counseling and treatment. He is banned from Zoombezi Bay and all other water parks.

He must also register as a Tier 1 sex offender.
