Man says he was high on meth, doing a dare when he broke windows of historic helicopter in Newark

NEWARK, OH (WCMH) — The Newark Division of Police says it has arrested a man who admitted to damaging a Vietnam War-era helicopter because he was high on meth and someone dared him to do it. 

Police arrested Adam Williams, 21, who “admitted to damaging the helicopter when he was high on meth and stated that someone dared him to do it.” Police say Williams was arrested for vandalism of a monument.

He allegedly broke out two windows of the historical Vietnam War-era UH-1B helicopter has been in Licking County since December of 1988. It was at the American Legion at 85 S. 4th St.
