Man killed in east Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police are investigating a shooting on the city’s east side. 
According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 12:33am, Sunday, officers on patrol found an

unresponsive man in the alley behind a residence in the 900 block of Geers Avenue.

The victim, Michael Benjamin Blankenship, 29, was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

After investigating a shooting scene was found in the 1500 block of E. Livingston Avenue along Denton Alley.  

Police say Blankenship was shot near Seymour Avenue and Denton Alley before making his way to the rear of Geers Avenue where he collapsed. 

Neighbors told police they heard gunshots just before midnight, but no one called 911. 

Police continue to investigate but say there is no known motive or suspects at this time.
