A 48-year-old man accused of raping and murdering a woman whose body was recently found behind a garage has been charged with kidnapping and raping multiple women, including a 70-year-old woman.
Troy Len Hairston was indicted on Thursday in connection to the February 2019 rape and murder of Tonya Lanette Daniels, 47, whose body was discovered in a garage behind 969 Seymour Ave.
Daniels was raped and murdered on or about Feb. 24, 2019, officials said.
Hairston was also charged in connection to the rape of a 70-year-old woman that occurred on Sept. 26th, 2018, the rape of a 57-year-old woman that occurred on Feb. 24, 2019.
“Within a five-month time span, this man kidnapped and raped three women, killing one of them,” said Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said.
Hairston has been indicted for one count of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, three counts of kidnapping, and one count of aggravated robbery. All of the charge include repeat violent offender specifications.
Hairston was also charged with four counts of rape, which include repeat violent offender specifications and sexually violent predator specifications.
In addition, Hairston was charged with one count of tampering with evidence.
“Hairston has a prior rape conviction from 1994, which is the basis of the repeat violent offender specifications in the indictment,” O’Brien said.
Hairston will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 18 in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High St. in downtown Columbus.
