Local fire stations holding more Firefighters for Kids toy drives this weekend

Local News

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — NBC4’s Firefighters for Kids toy drive was a success thanks to many generous donations from the community. This weekend, the toy drive continues with other fire departments across central Ohio.

With the help from our generous NBC4 viewers, we were able to make sure that 2,800 children across central Ohio will have presents under their Christmas tree this holiday season.

And the giving doesn’t stop this weekend, on December 15th, Upper Arlington, Dublin and Worthington fire departments will be collecting donations.

“If you are in those neighborhoods please stop by the firehouses and donate a toy,” said Battalion Chief Doug Smith.

Local companies are also getting into the giving spirit.

The employees that work for the Lowes on Brice Road in Columbus donated their holiday bonus money to buy toys for children in need.

“It’s awesome to give back and bring a lot of light into children’s hearts this time of year,” said store manager, Loren Anderson.

This is the second year in a row these employees have donated to Firefighters for Kids.

“There are not many people that have extra money around Christmas time. However, all these employees have decided to take their Christmas bonus and donate it to the kids. I think it’s excellent,” said Lt. Brian Conaway.
