Local church taking water donations for Dayton storm victims

Local News

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – The need for drinking water continues out of Dayton after a tornado came through destroying homes and cars.

City of Grace kicked off its “Water for Dayton” drive.

Michael Young is the lead pastor City of Grace.  He was devastated by what he saw.

“It was really close to home. I had my wife and kids in the basement. We were down there, and we were hearing some reports of that tornados were close to where we were,” said Young.

Two days later there is still a water shortage.  Young with City of Grace is now asking members of the community to drop off drinking water.

“If you see someone in need don’t pass the need, but make sure you meet the need,” said Young.

Anyone can drop off water at the church at 3350 Allegheny Avenue between 5pm and 8pm Thursday and Friday, and 9am and to 1:30pm Saturday and Sunday.

Young says once all the water is collected the church will rent a truck and ship it to Dayton.
