Little Big Shots: 9-year-old BMX star Kate Clarridge

Local News

COLMBUS (WCMH) – This week, NBC4 Today’s Little Big Shots segment went to the BMX track. It’s not a place many have been to but 9-year-old Kate Clarridge is very comfortable on the dirt track.

Clarridge has been riding BMX for 6 years and has amassed a good amount of awards, everything from national championships to regional honors. Some of the races she competes in, she goes up against girls who are 1 to 3 years older.

But that doesn’t phase Kate, who is full of confidence and swagger. Two things that are a must for anyone who wants to take on this daredevil sport.

Down the road, Kate would love to ride in the Olympics but for now, she is focused on her summer schedule.

For our segment, she challenged our Matt Barnes to a race. And it did not end well for Matt at all. You can check that out in the video above!
