The holiday honoring the Patron Saint of Ireland has become a global phenomenon.

Celebrations from St. Patrick’s Day began in the U.S. in the late 18th century, mostly in neighborhoods with a large Irish immigrant population.
Now, just about any and everyone gets in on the fun, which often includes drinking green beer and eating corned beef and cabbage.
Holiday lore includes wearing green to ward off naughty Leprechauns who pinch whatever they see.
No promises about finding any four-leaf clovers or pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.
