SHELBY COUNTY, TX (WCMH) – A Texas man is facing several charges after police say he wanted to murder, sexually assault and eat a minor.
Police said Alexander Nathan Barter, 21, made a post on the dark web asking for people interested in allowing him to commit necrophilia and cannibalism to contact him. He gave two encrypted email addresses where he could be reached, KTRE reported.
An undercover agent spotted the post and responded, posing as someone interested in offering his young daughter.
Barter allegedly replied, “Nice! I’m in East Texas. How old is your daughter? Can we kill her?”
In a series of emails over several days, police say Barter created a plan to meet the ‘father and daughter’ for a hiking trip. During the trip, the ‘daughter’ was actually supposed to be taken to a hotel, where she would be assaulted, killed, and cannibalized.
Barter was arrested outside his home as he was leaving to meet the undercover agent, according to police.
Barter was arrested and charged with Criminal solicitation, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and attempted sexual performance of a child.
“Hopefully, this will serve as a continued reminder that parents should always be vigilant and aware of what their children are doing on the internet. I hope it also gives folks some comfort to know that there are also good guys at work-highly trained, highly capable individuals protecting us,” said Shelby County District Attorney Stephen Shires in a statement.
