Hocking County crash in construction zone leaves two with serious injuries

The Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle injury crash which occurred on SR 328 on June 4, 2018 at approximately 2:57pm.

According to investigators, a juvenile was driving a Toyota Prius northbound on SR 328 in a construction zone. A Yamaha motorcycle, driven by Lafe Barnett Jr, 36, had been directed to stop in the northbound lane of SR 328 by Shelly and Sands flagger Lora Parker, 49. The Prius struck the motorcycle in the rear end, overturning and pushing the motorcycle off the right side of the roadway. The Prius then struck Lora Parker, throwing her into the side of a parked vehicle.

Both Barnett and Parker were air lifted to Grant Hospital for incapacitating injuries sustained as a result of the crash. The juvenile driver was not injured as a result of the crash.

Neither alcohol or drug use are suspected factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

The Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Logan Police Department, Hocking County EMS, the Logan City Fire Department, and OSHP Crash Reconstruction.
