Grove City man dies after being hit by two vehicles, deputies looking for second driver

Investigators are searching for a driver involved in a crash that left a Grove City man dead.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, it happened around 11:38pm Friday night at the intersection of West Broad Street and Norton Road. Investigators say Daniel Bender, 25, was crossing West Broad Street to the north side of the roadway when he was struck by a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado traveling west.

The driver of the Silverado stopped, but another vehicle came along and struck Bender again. The second vehicle fled the scene. Bender was transported to Doctor’s West Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The second vehicle is described as a dark-colored sedan similar to a Chevrolet Cruze. The sedan has front-end damage. Anyone with information about the crash or the second vehicle is encouraged to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 614-525-3333.

The crash remains under investigation.
