Tonight a veteran’s home is wrecked after a storm rolled through, bringing golf-ball sized hail.

The damage happened in Ross County, off of State Route 56 in Laurelville.

Veteran Rusty Hartley and his wife Denise reflected on the damage to their home following the storm that shattered windows and damaged the siding.

“It busted three windows,” said Denise Hartley. “It blew rain and hail, mud and everything in the house. My car has lots of dents in it. It was very loud. And I went to the bathroom with my dog and stayed there. We have a cellar but as big as the hail was, I was afraid to walk outside.”

Rusty Hartley was at work when he got the call from his wife. He’s shocked at how his home now looks. Huge dents and holes on the siding of his home. He says replacing it is going to be expensive.

“We are just working people down here you know,” said the veteran. “It’s a shame….”

Next week, the cleanup begins. The couple think the damage will be about twenty thousand dollars.
