The U.S. Postal Service reports that the German Village post office located at 500 E. Whittier Avenue will be temporarily suspending operations after an interior ceiling collapsed.
The Columbus Division of Fire responded to 500 E. Whittier Avenue just before 9:30am on Wednesday, May 29. An interior ceiling had collapsed before the post office was open for business. According to first responders on the scene, all employees were able to exit the building safely.
According to a release from the U.S. Postal Service, safety inspectors have determined that the building is not safe to be occupied. For the safety of employees and customers, operations have been suspended at the 500 E. Whittier location. Operations will be temporarily relocated to the South Columbus post office located at 445 E. Innis Avenue.
Hours of operation for the South Columbus post office are Monday through Friday, 9am to 1:30pm and 2:30pm to 5pm, and Saturday from 9am to noon.
