Free testing offered Feb. 7 as part of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

Free testing will be offered at a National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day event that will be held Feb. 7 in Columbus.

Organizers with the National African American Male Initiative said area residents who attend the event can get free testing, food, and education about HIV/AIDS at the event, which will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.at the Lincoln Cafe, 740 E. Long St. 

The event is sponsored by Equitas Health, officials said.

Columbus City Councilman Shannon Hardin will kickoff HIV/AIDS testing, said organizers DeVeonne Latice White and Dwayne Steward.
