Franklin County deputy released from hospital, is recovering at home

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy wounded in a shootout with a suspect has been released from the hospital.

Deputy Jacob Heaberlin was wounded Saturday, May 12 in a confrontation with Darrell J. Bruffy on the city’s southwest side. 

Heaberlin was escorted home Tuesday by fellow deputies and members of the Columbus Police Motor and Freeway Units.

The sheriff’s office thanked Central Ohio citizens for their thoughts and prayers during the deputy’s recovery.
