Former Whitehall drama coach accused of having sexual relationship with student

WHITEHALL, OH (WCMH) – Authorities have executed a search warrant on a former drama coach at Whitehall Yearling High School who is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.

At the time of the alleged incident, the instructor taught part-time. Inside the warrant it states the teacher pressured the student into a relationship.  Police said the drama coach used social media to ask for naked pictures of the student.

Some parents of students, like Jennifer Little, are worried about the safety of their children.

“This is not what’s supposed to take place. If anything happens you need to come to me or any of the admins at school,” said Little.

According to records, the drama coach met a student in April 2017. In May 2018, records say the teacher pressured the student into becoming his girlfriend. The inappropriate relationship escalated into visits to his parents’ Westerville home where he’d take the girl and have sexual contact with her, according to authorities.

“There needs to be a little more backgrounds done on our teachers . Once our kids leave for school we intrust our teacher to take care of them or keep them safe,” said Little.

NBC4 is not mentioning the name of the drama coach because he hasn’t been charged yet. He’s  fired from the district.
