MARION, Ohio (WCMH) — A former contractor and volunteer with the Marion City Schools Band Department has been arrested after he allegedly sent nude photographs to a minor.

According to a press release from Marion police, a Marion Harding High School Resource Officer received a complaint in late February about 27-year-old Alexander Freeman. Investigators say Freeman sent nude photographs to a 16-year-old student not enrolled in Marion City Schools.

Police arrested Freeman Wednesday following the execution of a search warrant at Freeman’s home. He was charged with disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.

Police say there is no evidence that Freeman had any inappropriate contact with students actively enrolled in the Marion City School District.

According to the band’s website, Freeman served as a color guard instructor during the fall, but police say he remained on staff as a volunteer after the season was over. When the school district was made aware of the complaint, Freeman was removed from participating with the band and was banned from school property.

The school district will be holding a meeting for parents of Marion Harding Color Guard members to address this matter and answer any questions parents may have.

Anyone with information that may be pertinent to the investigation is urged to contact Lt. Ed Brown of the Marion Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit at 740-387-2525 ext. 1147.
