Christmas is just one week away, and there are still families in need.
With our Firefighters for Kids Toy Drive we are trying to make Christmas special for as many kids as possible. We can’t do that without your help.
Families tell NBC4 they don’t know what they’d do without the toy drive.
“They’re going to have the biggest smiles on their faces, they’re counting down the days and they’re excited. They’re ready,” said single parent Cindy Berry, a mother of twin boys.
“I get up every day trying to provide for my family and my main focus is our needs and not necessarily so much our wants. When I’m able to get them their wants, that brings joy to my heart as well,” said Berry.
So Berry signed up for the Firefighters for Kids Toy Drive to help her and her boys out this Christmas. Just like many other parents and guardians who also signed up and are will pick up toys over the next week.
So far more than 8,000 children are going to have toys this Christmas all thanks to the generous support of central Ohio. But this toy drive still needs your help. Organizers say donations are down 50 percent right now. And more than 4,000 kids still need help.
“I would just say if you guys are able to do it please come out and do as much as you can if you’re able to. Because you have no idea how many families you can bless,” said Berry.
You have from now until Christmas Eve to drop off toys at any Columbus fire station. So stop by say hi to a firefighter and drop off those toys.
