Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy shot; suspect dead in incident at Jeffersonville hotel

A Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy was shot and another man is dead following an incident at the Quality Inn/Amerihost at 10160 Carr Road in the Village of Jeffersonville in northwest Fayette County.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies were dispatched to the inn on Sunday morning at approximately 12:43 a.m. to investigate a disturbance.

A sheriff’s deputy was shot by one of the subjects involved in the disturbance. Upon returning fire, the suspect was shot and killed.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. The deputy is in stable condition.

Detectives from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and agents from Ohio BCI are conducting the investigation.

Also responding to the scene were members of the Washington Court House Police Department, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Jefferson Township Fire Department, and Fayette County EMS.

The identity of the deputy and suspect are being withheld at this time as the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio BCI continue their investigation.
