WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, OH (WCMH) – Two Washington Court House men are facing charges after they allegedly beat a kitten to death.

According to the Fayette Regional Humane Society, Samual N. Nye, 31 and Alex L. Hebb, 22 tried to break the kitten’s neck, then its head was stomped, causing it to die. The kitten was found in a garbage container outside a Washington Court House apartment building.

“This was a horrific act of cruelty,” said Brad Adams, humane agent. “I believe the men are where they belong right now, and that is behind bars. Let this be a clear message that cruel acts toward animals will not be tolerated here.”

Both are charged with prohibitions concerning companion animals, a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
