Fayette County man accused of sexually assaulting 5-year-old girl, held on $2 million bond

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A Fayette County man is being held on $2 million bond, accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl.

Jermie Lee Groves of Washington Court House appeared in court Thursday morning. He faces three first-degree felony charges of rape of a child under 13 years old, kidnapping and aggravated burglary.

According to court documents, Groves broke into an apartment on Stimmel Road about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday and approached a five-year-old girl.

Court documents described how he sexually assaulted her and attempted to force her to perform sexual acts.

Prosecutors noted Groves has a criminal history in Ohio, as well as out of state.

A judge set bond at $2 million. Groves is due back in court on June 15.
