COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police have identified a woman who was killed in a multiple vehicle crash along I-270 on the city’s east side.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 10:33 p.m., Monday, a 2006 Peterbilt tractor trailer struck a 2013 Chevrolet Impala that was sticking out from the berm into the right lane of I-270, just south of I-70.
Police say the impact of the crash ejected the driver of the Impala, Chandra Basnet, 18, of Reynoldsburg, out of the open driver’s side door.
The tractor trailer came to rest after striking another vehicle that was parked on the berm due to a prior noninjury crash with Basnet’s vehicle.
According to police, after being ejected from her vehicle, Basnet was struck by an unknown vehicle that drove away after the crash.
Basnet was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported and police continue to investigate the crash.
