Family doesn’t want charges filed against grandfather accused of killing granddaughter

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A family is torn after police say a man shot and killed his granddaughter, Jordan Williams, thinking she was a burglar.

It happened Wednesday on the 1200 block of Berkeley road. Jordan Charlese Victorya Williams was found dead.

Booker Moody is charged with murder.

The family is truly struggling with this.  They say he has dementia. His daughter Traci Brown said the family doesn’t want him to be charged.

“It was an accident. That’s how I look at it. He didn’t know who was at his door. Everyone knows you can’t go banging and kicking on his door late night,” said Brown.

Brown said she had the chance to speak to her father about what happened.

“He said he don’t know what happened. My dad is 72, 73 years old. He got dementia, so he don’t remember. If he don’t remember he don’t remember. I know personally if he knew it were her, he wouldn’t have killed her. He wouldn’t have killed her,” said Brown.

The family tells us they are in the process of planning Williams’ funeral.  Her daughter is being cared for by Williams’ mother.
