DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) — A Dublin man died Wednesday after being hit by a car on Avery Road.
Jason Zarate, 54, was hit by a car around 7 a.m. and taken to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition, the Washington Township Fire Department reported.
Police said Zarate, who died from his injuries around 10:30 a.m., was jogging at the time of the accident.
Avery Road was closed after the accident but had reopened by 10 a.m.
A spokesperson for Dublin Police said the driver involved was cooperative.
NBC4 spoke with residents in the area with one man stating in the 17 years he has lived there, he doesn’t remember any crashes involving pedestrians.
“The road is very dangerous, and there’s quite a bit of traffic and it’s narrow.” said Bill Crago. “People tend to drive … well the speed limit’s 45 so it’s a good clip.”
Dublin police are investigating the accident.
