Spring Games typically are not that memorable, but this year’s Spring Game will stand as a life-changing moment for one Buckeye player.

Punter Drue Chrisman used a fake contest during the game as the perfect opportunity to set up his girlfriend, Avery, for a marriage proposal.

OSU arranged for Avery to attempt an extra point at halftime to win a prize. Chrisman was the placeholder on the field goal attempt. Except when the football was snapped to Chrisman, he sat it down and picked up a ring box.

Avery said “yes,” setting off the loudest ovation of the day in Ohio Stadium.

Chrisman says they grew up in the same neighborhood near Cincinnati and have been dating for many years.

Avery is a student at BYU but could transfer to OSU soon.

Chrisman says they plan to marry next spring.
