UNION COUNTY, Ohio (WCMH) — A driver sustained life-threatening injuries after going left of center and striking an oncoming truck Sunday afternoon.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office was alerted of the two-car crash at about 12:39 p.m. Sunday. Deputies responded to the crash scene at U.S. 33 in the area of State Route 4 in Paris Township.

Investigators believe the 2011 silver Mazda was heading westbound on U.S. 33 when the driver, 20-year-old Wesley Giles of Columbus, crossed the median and collided head-on with a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

After Giles was removed from his vehicle, he was rushed to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the Dodge, 38-year-old Anthony Bernard of Bellefontaine, had minor injuries and was treated at the scene by medics.

The crash remains under investigation.
