A rare opportunity to see a dog perform in a hit Broadway musical is coming Tuesday, June 6, through Sunday, June 9, at the Ohio Theatre.
Sammy, a poodle mix, plays Porthos in the Broadway musical Finding Neverland. The play tells the story of JM Barrie and the family who inspired him to write the children’s classic Peter Pan.
Sammy, and his understudy Lexie, are both rescue dogs. Sammy has never missed a show in his first two years on tour, and holds the record for performing in more shows of Finding Neverland than any other canine — or human — actor.
Trained by William Berloni, and handled by Mel Rocco on tour, Sammy gets to know and bond with all the actors who train with him.
Positive reinforcement is used in all the training of Sammy, said a spokesperson for Capa.
