The sheriff’s department has confirmed tonight that they’ve recovered the body of Jeffrey R. Delgado.
According to a release from Ross County: “Sheriff Lavender reports that the body of Jeffrey R. Delgado was discovered by a property owner in the 500 block of Baker Road at approximately 4:00 p.m. today.”
500 Baker Road is close to where Delgado was wanted for beating two women with a bat.
The release gives Delgado’s apparent cause of death as “suicide.”
“The body is in the custody of the Ross county Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing at this time,” Sheriff Lavender concluded.
As NBC4’s Shawn Lanier reported earlier, the hunt for Delgado began after a man who lives on Baker Road in Chillicothe said he heard screams for help coming from his neighbor’s home late Saturday morning.
He said he and his other neighbors, Howard and Debra Kellough, walked in and saw something they wish they hadn’t seen.
“Never have seen anything on this road that even comes near this,” said Howard.“[She] was laying there in a puddle of blood and she drug herself up to the door trying to get my attention, and she was hollering ‘Help me Howard, help me. I’m dying.’”
The couple said the victim on the floor told them that man 53-year-old Jeffrey Delgado beat her and her daughter with a bat, and then took off.
