COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A vice officer shot and killed a woman after she stabbed him, a spokesperson with Columbus Police tells NBC4.

The female suspect is dead. The officer is recovering at the hospital.

Officers tell us around 11:30am, the officer was working on prostitution complaints in the area of Bellows and S. Yale Avenue.

Police said the officer was attempting to take a suspect into custody inside his unmarked vehicle. At some point, the female suspect stabbed the officer in the hand, according to police. Police say the officer then defended himself by shooting the woman, killing her.
