Local News

The Columbus Division of Police has identified the woman killed by a Columbus police officer during an undercover prostitution operation Thursday.

The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Donna G. Castleberry from Columbus.

According to police, Castleberry stabbed Officer Andrew Mitchell in the hand while he was attempting to take her into custody inside his unmarked vehicle in the area of Bellows and South Yale Avenue. Police say Mitchell defended himself by shooting Castleberry, killing her.

According to court records, Castleberry was wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear for sentencing on a previous solicitation case.

Mitchell is a 30-year veteran of the Columbus Division of Police.
