COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – The annual African-American Male Wellness Walk is still a couple of months away, but there are plenty of related initiatives happening in central Ohio. The annual cooking with dads sent hundreds packing the King Arts Complex. Fathers and grandfathers bonded over one thing, the love for their kids and grandkids. Chad Anderson wears the title -dad- as a badge of honor.
“Myself I am a single father. The great thing, this event not only helps me, but helps the community and fathers that come out. There are good African-American fathers out there, a lot of them,” said Anderson.
It’s a message these fathers want to show as well. More than 300 registered for the event is part of the African American male wellness initiative. Cooking with dads took a very hands-on approach. Both dad and kids went to various tables making healthy dishes
they can easily make at home and for a lifetime.
“There is a healthy way to eat there’s a healthy way to live your life and to be able to give our children a point of reference with us on how to eat healthy and make healthy lifestyle choices. it’s priceless,” said Anderson.
