UNION COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — A 24-year-old construction worker was killed in a hit-and-run crash after she was struck by a semi tractor-trailer on U.S. 33 near Dublin.
According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and units from the Jerome Twp. and Washington Twp. fire departments were called to U.S. 33 west of state Route 161 on the report of a pedestrian struck.
Deputies say a woman working in the construction zone for Lake Erie Construction Company was killed in the hit-and-run crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tractor-trailer continued eastbound along U.S. 33, but deputies say the driver of the truck was found in Columbus and is being questioned by authorities.
A crash investigation indicates the driver of the tractor-trailer drove into the safety zones along U.S. 33 and struck the victim.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash along with the Multi-County Crash Team, the Union County Coroner’s Office. The sheriff’s office is being assisted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Marysville Division of Police.
