COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One person is in stable condition after a shooting Monday night in north Columbus.

According to Columbus police, officers responded to a business on the 2100 block of Morse Road at approximately 7:46 p.m.

The victim was taken to OhioHealth Riverside Memorial Hospital in critical condition but later upgraded to stable condition.

According to police, the 23-year-old male victim was leaving the La Michoacana on the 2100 block of Morse Road and was walking toward his vehicle when he was approached by a man and a woman.

Both the suspects asked him questions with the male suspect moving closer to the victim, police said. The suspect asked for money and when the victim said no, the suspect began chasing him around toward the Walford Street side of the building.

The two men struggled in the parking lot, at which point, police said the suspect pulled a handgun and fired at least two shots into the victim’s leg, breaking his tibia bone.

The male suspect then took the victim’s wallet and the two suspects fled the scene in a white Nissan with the woman driving.
