COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Two people are dead and a third was injured after an attempted burglary led police to allegedly finding a body in the suspect’s home.

According to Columbus police, officers responded to the 5000 block of Belmore Drive in the Sweetwater neighborhood south of Hilliard at approximately 4:41 a.m. Monday for a burglary in progress call.

When officers arrived, they found the suspect, identified as a 29-year-old man, fighting with Jacob Stratton, 24, and a 53-year-old woman.

Stratton was taken to Doctor’s West hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:21 a.m. The woman was treated at the hospital and later released. The suspect was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

When officers later executed a search warrant on the suspect’s home, they found the body of a 25-year-old man. His identity is being withheld until a positive identification can be made. Police did not say what may have led to the man’s death.

Police have also not released the suspect’s name.

It is the second fatality in less than a week in this area, the first being that of Tabias Cunningham, who was shot and killed at an Esporta gym in the Tanglewood Plaza, Tuesday, March 28. Police are still searching for two persons of interest from that incident.
