One in custody after shooting in southwest Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One person is in custody following a shooting in southwest Franklin County. It’s not clear whether that person is the suspect police have been looking for.

Earlier Thursday, the neighborhood was evacuated as police searched for a suspect they say shot at an officer.

A large police presence remains on the scene of the shooting on the 1400 block of Tall Meadows Drive.

Officials say a suspect shot at a Franklin Township officer and the officer returned fire. No one is believed to have been hit.

They received the call around 1:48 p.m. Thursday of a man threatening a woman in southwest Franklin County.

SWAT was called out to the scene to assist.
