Person shot in west Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One person is hospitalized after a shooting on the west side of Columbus Sunday night.

Columbus Police said officers responded to the 200 block of South Eureka Avenue at approximately 7:29 p.m.

At the scene, police found the victim, a 43-year-old man, sitting on a couch suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to what witnesses told police, a large group was in front of a house having a gathering for a young family member who had died. A silver vehicle pulled up to the intersection and opened fire on the group, causing people to run, but the victim was hit.

The victim was rushed into surgery at the hospital and could not speak with the police. He is expected to survive his injuries.
