Woman killed in west Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police are investigating a deadly shooting on the city’s west side.  

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 5:51 a.m., officers were called to the 3000 block of Eakin Road on the report of a shooting.  

When officers arrived on scene, they found Alyse Edwards, 34, lying in the hallway suffering from a gunshot wound. Edwards was taken to an area hospital where she later died from her injuries.  

Police arrested Cortez Jackson, 31, and charged him with murder in connection to the shooting.
