COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is dead after a serious crash on I-270 eastbound near Columbus.
Around 5 a.m. Monday, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to reports of pedestrian-involved crash on I-270 eastbound near State Route 104 in southern Franklin County.
A Columbus man was traveling eastbound on I-270, just east of Jackson Pike, when he hit a woman who was in his lane on the highway, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver reportedly remained on the scene. Medics pronounced the pedestrian dead at approximately 5:16 a.m., the sheriff’s office said.
All lanes are back open on the highway after initially being closed off by law enforcement, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
