COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Two men are dead after what police said was a murder-suicide late Saturday morning in southeast Columbus.

A police dispatcher said that officers were called to an apartment on the 3200 block of Melissa Place in the Linwood neighborhood at 11:31 a.m. on reports of a shooting.

According to police, the victim — a man in his 20s — was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:39 p.m.

Investigators at the scene learned that the suspect — also a man in his 20s — fled the apartment carrying a handgun. The suspect was found a short distance away on the 3000 block of Bexvie Avenue suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 12:22 p.m.
