COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person died Thursday evening after crashing into a telephone pole in Perry Township.

Just after 9 p.m., a westbound motorist driving a Toyota Camry on State Route 161 near Fiesta Drive veered off the right side of the road, according to a news release from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

While driving along the ditch on the side of the road, the motorist reportedly hit a telephone pole and a tree, causing the car to flip onto its passenger side where it came to a stop.

Medics pronounced the driver dead at 9:25 p.m., the sheriff’s office said. The victim’s name is being withheld until family is notified.
