COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person died after allegedly trying to break into a home in north Columbus on Friday night.

Authorities responded to the 1300 block of East Blake Avenue in the South Linden at about 9:16 p.m. on Friday after a report of a shooting, according to the Columbus Division of Police. Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:25 p.m.

An initial investigation revealed the victim may have been intruding at the suspect’s residence, police said. The case will be presented to the Franklin County prosecutor’s office for consideration of any charges.

The victim and the suspect have not been identified. Police are asking anyone with information to call 614-645-4730.
