COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A 26-year-old pizza shop manager is hospitalized after Columbus police said he was shot at the store Monday night.

According to Columbus police, the shooting happened at a Papa John’s pizza shop on the 2900 block of East Main Street at approximately 10:17 p.m.

Police said a man walked into the store and asked for a job application. The suspect then pulled a handgun and walked behind the counter, police said.

The manager of the store and the suspect began to fight over the gun, at which point two shots were fired and the manager was hit in the shoulder.

The suspect fled northbound behind the store. Police said they found two spend shell casings at the shop.

Police are continuing to search for the suspect.

The victim was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.
