COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police say a child was not in a car seat when she was killed in a crash.  

According to the Columbus Division of Police, just after 2 a.m., Wednesday, a woman was driving a 2008 Ford Explorer on Cleveland Avenue near Arlington Avenue, when she lost control of the vehicle and struck two utility poles.  

Police say a 4-year-old girl in the vehicle wasn’t in a car seat at the time of the crash and was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital before she was pronounced dead.  

The female driver was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Another passenger in the vehicle was hospitalized in stable condition.  

Police continue to investigate the crash.
