2 critically injured after shooting in southeast Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police are investigating after two people were shot in southeast Columbus. 

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 3:22 a.m., Thursday, officers were called to the 1500 block of Smith Road on the report of someone down from a fireworks incident.  

As officers responded, they were notified by dispatchers that it was a shooting with several gunshots fired.  

When officers arrived on scene, they found one man lying next to porch, unresponsive, suffering from a head injury.  

A second man was with a gunshot wound to his lower body.  

They were taken to an area hospital in critical condition, but both have been stabilized.
