Columbus woman killed when pickup truck backed over her while sweeping driveway

A Columbus woman is dead after being backed over by a pickup truck Saturday night.

It happened around 8:45pm on the 3100 block of Telham Drive. According to the Columbus Division of Police, Wendell Williamson Jr., 51, was backing his Ford F-150 pickup truck down the driveway of his residence while Myrtle Williamson, 77, was sweeping the same driveway.

The rear end of the pickup truck struck Myrtle Williamson, knocking her to the ground and the right wheel rear of the pickup truck ran over her. Myrtle Williamson was pronounced dead on the scene when Franklin Township medics arrived.

The incident remains under investigation.

This is the 30th traffic-related fatality in Columbus this year.
