Police are searching for a man who they say was caught on surveillance video smashing a car window and stealing a backpack containing computer equipment during a break-in in the Ohio State University campus area late last month.

The break-in occurred at 11:30 a.m. April 26 behind the Wellington, 46 E. 16tyh Ave. when an OSU student walked into a Chick-fil-A for 10 minutes and left her backpack in the front seat of the car with her computer and an iPad in it, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to contact Det. Crawford in CPD’s Auto Theft Unit at 614-645-2006 or bcrawford@columbuspolice.org.
