Columbus Police searching for 14-year-old runaway

(COLUMBUS)—Officers are searching for a 14-year-old runaway in Columbus. 

Cherokee Ray, 14, was last seen in Columbus on December 10, 2018. She is white, 4’9” and weighs 100 lbs. Ray has blonde hair and blue eyes.

“Cherokee if you’re listening or see this, honey we’re not mad at you,” said Ray’s stepdad Clinton DeWitt Sr. “Whatever is going on we can get through it, we can talk through it. It’s just killing me and your mom and your grandma. Please come home please. If anybody sees her please let us know.” 

DeWitt said he went to check on her Monday morning the 14-year-old was not her cell phone was still in her room, her window had been tampered with, and she left them a note. 

He though maybe she ran to her boyfriend’s house, but she wasn’t there. 

Her boyfriend, Chase Moore, decided to help look for her. 

“First I just threw my shoes on and we just went everywhere looking for her,” said Moore. “The first thing that went through my mind was that is that she could have went to her best friend’s Ashley’s house.” 

Ray wasn’t there either. 

Now five days have past and this family has posted more than 1,000 fliers as they seek the public’s help. 

“I love my daughter dearly, we all do,” said DeWitt. “It’s killing all of us. We just want her home safely.”
