Plans are underway for a basketball boot camp that hopes to bridge the gap between police and the community.
The Columbus Division of Police kicks off its basketball camp this weekend for kids on the city’s south side. Chaz Thomas is an honor roll student at South High School. Last year he went to the boot camp, and he will be there again tomorrow.
“I would say. It’s a great experience mentality and spirituality,” said Thomas.
There’s one thing he’s looking forward to the most.
“Probably the boxing part. I never boxed before and they were teaching us all the movements and hand motions and everything,” said Thomas.
The purpose of this camp is to show kids that police are here for them and are not against them.
