Columbus police investigating a homicide after man dies from injuries received from bus stop fight

Columbus police were called to a bus stop at James Road and East Main Street on Monday, July 23 at approximately 8:04p.m. on the report of a fight.

Responding officers found an unresponsive male, later identified as Brandon Nicholson, 41, suffering from a head injury.

Columbus Fire medics transported Nicholson to Grant Medical Center where he remained in critical condition until Monday, July 30, when he succumbed to his injuries and died. 

Police investigators say that Nicholson was involved in a dispute with an unnamed suspect, that escalated into a physical altercation that caused his injuries. 

According to Columbus police, the details of that altercation are still under investigation and no charges have been filed.  Therefore, the identity of the other party involved in being withheld.
